Government Shutdown

Updated: November 14th

  • The longest government shutdown in history has now ended. After 43 days, Congress has passed a bill to reopen the government and successfully obtained approval from the President. Although the government is reopening, aspects may take time to return to normal. FARSB will continue to monitor the ongoing situation and provide updates as they become available.

  • On October 28th, several states filed lawsuits against the Trump administration for restricting access to essential funds for families in need. As a result, CalFresh benefits are now beginning to appear on California SNAP recipients’ EBT cards, following the state’s joint effort with 22 others to secure the full release of SNAP benefits through legal action.
