Free School Supplies for Teachers in Low-Income Schools
Kids need the right tools in order to succeed in school, but many families cannot afford the most basic school supplies like pencils, crayons and notebooks. In an effort to help their students succeed many teachers pay for school supplies from their own funds to ensure their students are not at a disadvantage.
The Tools for Teachers program provides free school supplies to teachers at schools meeting the following criteria:
School Location
-
Schools must be within Riverside or San Bernardino County lines
Lunch Program
-
Schools must have a minimum participation rate of 80% of its students enrolled in the free or reduced lunch program
Teacher Requirements
-
A Tools for Teachers Application and Agreement must be submitted by a qualified school representative
-
Qualified school representatives are limited to ONLY Principals, Assistant Principals, Counselors, and Teachers ( teacher's aides and substitute teachers are not eligible to participate)
-
Only those registered for shopping days are permitted to select items
-
-
Tools for Teachers participants are responsible for bringing their own shopping bags- up to 2 bags equivalent in size to the reu
-
Participants must have a valid staff badge from their school when attending a shopping day
-
School representatives will be limited to participating on a shopping day once per year
School supplies are distributed on select "shopping" days by reservation only. Teachers will select from donated items based on current inventory on a first come first serve basis. Inventory will include supplies in the following categories binders and notebooks, writing utensils, office supplies, paper, containers. Shopping will take place on selected days (usually once per quarter). Teachers will be selected at random from completed and approved applications. Volunteers will be available to help teachers shop and carry their donations to their cars; family and friends are kindly asked to stay in the waiting area while teachers shop.

"I was so thankful to be blessed with these gifts to help my students to be successful. I hope this is done twice a year. Thank you so much again!!!" | "It’s getting harder and harder for us as teachers to get the materials we need, so to have them donated to us was such a huge blessing! Pencils, dry erase markers, and glue sticks are always a hot commodity. It was also great being able to get a backpack or two in order to help out those kids that really need it. Again, thank you." | Ms. Olsen is teacher at Valley of Enchantment Elementary. This was her first time participating in the Tools for Teacher program. She was SO excited to find enough sharpeners for the class! |
