This holiday season, FARSB held its annual Thanksgiving holiday drive-thru food distribution for neighbors in need in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Held on Friday, November 14th, the distribution provided much-needed food assistance to nearly 350 local families facing food insecurity and gifted Thanksgiving-themed meals of turkeys, pies, and boxes of fresh produce.

Successful large-scale efforts like this rely on the help of corporate partners, such as Bank of America, which recently provided a $25,000 grant, along with its local employee volunteers who helped with check-in, traffic flow, and loading holiday meal kits into vehicles. Bank of America has also provided grants and employee volunteer support to FARSB over the years as part of its focus on helping people overcome barriers to success, such as hunger-relief.

FARSB was also thrilled to receive $24,500 in holiday gift cards from the Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions Foundation’s Nourishing Neighbors program. We have partnered with the Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions Foundation for several years in the fight against hunger, and this generous gift card donation comes at a time when millions of Americans face increasing challenges accessing nutritious food. In Riverside and San Bernardino, our need is great as there are 530,000 individuals facing this issue.

By giving our food bank customers a gift card to Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions, we are providing the dignity of choice. They can choose what they want to eat, when they want to eat it, this holiday season. This was an additional gift on top of the Thanksgiving meal kits provided during the distribution.

"We are proud to see our Corporate Partners come together to support the community and bring hope and hunger-relief to families in need during this time of year," said Angela Jugon, Development & Marketing Director at FARSB. "Volunteers are the heart of our organization, and our Corporate Partners help keep our operations running efficiently year-round - especially during the historically busier holidays," Jugon added.

Hunger doesn't take a holiday, and at your local food bank, we want to ensure that our mission of feeding the IE is always top of mind, especially during the season of giving thanks.
