FARSB offers multiple internship opportunities throughout the year, and as our fiscal year comes to a close, we're saying goodbye to our latest group of interns who have assisted our mission to end hunger.

Together, Gisselle and Emmanuel made over 350 calls, assisted with more than 50 CalFresh applications, and helped out clients of the Fresh Start Pantry by Goodman! As their time comes to an end, we want to highlight the great work they've done and how they supported community members who came to FARSB for help.

Meet our Interns

Gisselle

Headshot of Giselle, CalFresh Intern for FARSB.

Meet Gisselle. She is a senior at the University of California, Riverside, and will be graduating with her Bachelor's in Sociology and a minor in Marketing. Her time at our food bank was cherished by the staff as she helped our CalFresh Outreach Team to get neighbors in need to apply for CalFresh benefits and assisted the Programs Team in running our hunger-relief programs.

"It has been a pleasure to work with Gisselle these last few months. Gisselle always comes in with a positive attitude and is willing to help wherever she is needed," said Avery Otsuji, Program Coordinator. "We are so grateful for all of her hard work, especially with CalFresh assistance and the Fresh Start Pantry by Goodman. I know Gisselle has a bright future ahead of her!”

Emmanuel

Headshot of Emmanuel, CalFresh Intern for FARSB.

Meet Emmanuel. He is a second-year student at La Sierra University. In addition to interning at FARSB, he also tutors at a local Elementary School and plays on the La Sierra University Men’s Soccer team. Emmanuel shared, “I learned so much in the past four months from everybody that I will learn to develop and grow when chasing my legal profession.

"Emmanuel was a great asset to our team. From day one, he was eager and willing to do any task presented to him, whether that be keeping our CalFresh reporting up to date or making phone calls and submitting...applications," said Erica Olson, CalFresh Outreach Coordinator. "We will definitely miss having him on our team, but we wish him well as he continues his education and pursues a career," Olson continued.

FARSB Staff

All FARSB staff have expressed appreciation for the hard work that both interns have done and the community members they've assisted. They will be missed, but we're sure they'll do great things with your new futures ahead of you.

Thank you for all your hard work! We know the clients you've helped are grateful as well!
