FARSB proudly celebrated its recent expansion into their new FARSB Hunger Resource Center in Riverside. The grand ribbon-cutting ceremony, held on Thursday, June 6th, marked a significant milestone in FARSB's ongoing mission to combat hunger and serve the community.
“Hunger is often called an ‘invisible crisis,’ yet it remains a critical issue nationwide, driven by complex social, economic, and geographical factors,” said Carolyn Fajardo, CEO at FARSB.
“Our new facility will be a cornerstone for efficient operations and a welcoming haven for those seeking help. This expansion will enable us to offer essential programs directly from our facility, significantly enhancing our presence and impact within the community,” said Fajardo.
So, what does this expansion mean for the community? Well, here are the things that you can expect with the new building.
SNAP (CalFresh) Resource Center
This building has served as a SNAP Resource Center and hosted CalFresh training sessions for partners and community members. This resource center allows folks to receive assistance with applying for CalFresh benefits, get any questions about eligibility answered right away, and access any other help an individual might have throughout the application process.
The Fresh Start Pantry by Goodman
Another special addition to this resource center, is one of the most incredible expansions for this new building, The Fresh Start Pantry by Goodman! Though the pantry is not yet up and running, the vision for the space is being fulfilled as we speak and is set to open in late 2024.
Goodman is an exceptional partner for FARSB and has purchased lifetime naming rights with the space currently being outfitted with shelving and storage solutions through this funding. This will allow the space to stay organized and available for recipients to use while streamlining the shopping process so community members can easily see what’s available without taking more time out of their day.
This will serve as a client-choice model allowing community members to shop for their families and themselves just like any grocery store. The items available will be shelf-stable products, canned foods, and other fresh products. This initiative will allow individuals to personally select their items, prioritizing choice and nutritional balance like never before.
Additional Information
FARSB’s warehouse distribution and operations will continue at 2950-B Jefferson St., Riverside, CA 92504. The new resource center is located at 4035 Trail Creek Rd., Riverside, CA 92505.
