Fighting for hunger relief is no small task, but that's exactly what Sam Turner has spent the last 25 years doing at FARSB. With a quarter of a century under his belt, he has received thousands of pallets of donated food items, inventoried over 900 million pounds of product, and spent countless hours ensuring our neighbors in need have the food they need to thrive.

As we take the time to celebrate this incredible milestone and his FARSB anniversary, we want to take a look back at the dedicated work that he has put into the warehouse. From the early days of the food bank when resources were limited, to the exponential growth within the last decade, Sam has been a major part of our operations in the Inland Empire.

Turner, Sam Turner: Hunger Hero

Sam is known around the warehouse as steady and reliable, showing up for partners, colleagues, and neighbors in need. Humble and caring, he often provides snacks and breakfast items for his warehouse team throughout the week, which is always appreciated by the entire warehouse team.

As Sam helps maintain the online inventory system utilized by our Community Partners, he also helps with the upkeep and inventory that allows 250+ pantries to stock their shelves, feeding their communities across the IE. Though neighbors that frequent these pantries may not know it, he plays a vital role in families being fed each and every day.

Like Antonio Garcia, a food bank recipient, who said, "I appreciate all that your company does because it is very helpful for me and my wife. Thank God that I found you!

You are all so nice and considerate. I am just so thankful and so grateful for what you guys do. Tell everyone that works with you that we thank you guys for the food!"

Each piece of our team plays an important role, even when you might not see it directly.

A Quarter Century of Accolades

In response to Sam's 25-year career at FARSB, the Feeding America National Office CEO, Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, even wrote a special letter of congratulations to honor his 25 years of service within hunger-relief and the Feeding America food bank network. This is just one of several certificates of recognition that were bestowed upon him for the occasion.

Sam also received certificates from the City of Riverside Mayor, Patricia Lock Dawson, and from the FARSB CEO, Carolyn Fajardo.

These are just three of several honors that he's received over his career with our food bank, along with a celebratory mention at our End-of-Fiscal-Year celebration with the full FARSB food bank team.

Supervisor Praise

Working at the warehouse, the team members are all working as one unit to ensure seamless receiving, inventory count, and proper organization. Raul Ramirez is the Warehouse Supervisor and has worked directly with Sam since he came to FARSB. As for his work ethic and performance, he had this to say:

Being a part of a team can be tough, but with Sam helping to foster a community mindset where each person pitches in, he helps create a place of work where people come together to help others. Our food bank is grateful for his great attitude, willingness to help, and dedication to our mission of feeding those in need throughout the IE!

Wrap-Up

The silver anniversary is a big one, and we wanted to congratulate Sam for his great work and dedication, and commitment. With such a big achievement, we can only hope that you see fit to stay with our food bank as long as possible.

Here's to you, and many more successful years at FARSB!
